Written in 1573 'Sellingers Round' was a very popular tune and dance in towns and villages across Britain.

A lot of women went in to ale brewing as this was the main drink for everyone from 2 year olds to the elderly. It wasn't very strong but was in high demand. Also used as part of a workers payment contract, brewing ale was very lucrative in the Tudor period.

Often found in town centres where workers would leave their bread at the communal bread oven to be baked, and pick it up for dinner or on their way home for supper. People would have their own specific markings so their bread would not get mixed up with anyone elses.
